Global Developing presented on importance of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in Federal Government Information Systems at the CDC 9th Annual PulseNet Update Meeting

The 9th annual PulseNet Update meeting was held on May 9-11, 2005, at the Westin Seattle in Washington State.

Global Developing, LLC’s CEO and President, Robert Long, presented on the importance of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in Federal Government Information Systems and gave a brief demo of his work at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which focused on bioterrorism and surveillance tracking systems. The theme at the PulseNet Update meeting was Molecular Epidemiology in Action. Some of the topics that were covered in his presentations were:

  • SOA in Federal Government Information Systems.

  • Several technologies that can be beneficial in any aspect of surveillance and disease reporting.

  • Applying SOA technology to Public Health at the State and Federal Government level.

“It was a great honor to do a follow up presentation to that of 2004 San Diego held PulseNet Update meeting” said Mr. Long. “PulseNet is an effective tool in the war against bioterrorism and disease surveillance and we are pleased to provide our experience in the areas of SOA and web services at CDC / PulseNet.”

Participation was open to laboratory personnel of state health departments (and county and city health departments, where appropriate) that are part of the PulseNet Network. PulseNet participants from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Food Safety and Inspection Service, and public health and food safety officials associated with PulseNet International also presented and attended. Event was sponsored by: The Foodborne and Diarrheal Diseases Branch, Division of Bacterial and Mycotic Diseases, National Center for Infectious Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and The Association of Public Health Laboratories.
